Elsie tells the story of power

The Powerhouse
Elsecar Workshops, Barnsley.

A highly interactive view of the scientific basis of all sources of energy, which attempts to unravel the 'mystery of power' in all its forms, housed in a Grade II listed building. To protect the integrity of the restored structure, Brennan & Whalley designed an internal free-standing steel pylon structure that reached, spider-like, to all parts of the building - but did not touch the fabric of the building.

Fit-out budget: £600,000.00; opened 1995

Received 1996 Civic Trust Award
